Description
Indulge in the wonderful local produce of the Southern Highlands and meet the people that bring it to the glass and plate.
Ease into this day of leisure and laid-back country pleasure with a scenic drive from the edge of Sydney Harbour to the rolling hills of the Southern Highlands. Take the time to kick back, relax and start warming up those taste buds!
On arrival at Centennial Vineyards it’s time to stimulate your senses with bubbles that showcase the grape varieties of Sydney’s closest wine region. Guided by a resident oenophile from this cool-climate boutique winery, you’ll embark on a progressive tasting journey through flights of sparkling white, rosé and red wines – all made using estate-grown grapes. Cheers!
Continuing the focus on local produce, you’ll experience fine dining Southern Highlands-style at chef-hatted restaurant eschalot. Owner and head chef Matty Roberts will lead you through the garden surrounding the restaurant where he will pick the freshest of fresh ingredients to prepare the gourmet meal you are about to savour. Complementing Matty’s skill in the kitchen, owner and maître d’ Cass Wallace will select a local wine to match each of the three courses.
After lunch enjoy a wander around the charming Georgian village of Berrima. Browse the quaint shops along the leafy main street – look out for tea, chocolate, locally-made preserves and arts and crafts – and admire the colonial sandstone buildings.
Then it’s time for a little more relaxation on the trip back in to the city. Siesta optional.
